Event description

Description

Join Alex Gardner and Louis Bailey, curators of Continuum, for a tour of the exhibition followed by an open discussion with some of the participating artists. We’ll be talking about their work, and discussing the power of creativity to transform otherwise difficult and overlooked experiences, and the importance of visual arts in increasing trans visibility. And you’ll have your chance to ask us questions about our work and the exhibition as a whole.

Part of SPARK, a brand new trans arts festival, raising trans-visibility in a creative way, in Manchester from 1-7 July. Looking below the tip of the trans-visibility-iceberg, SPARK will showcase a diverse range of new and challenging work from artists across the trans spectrum and spark discussions.

Venues across Manchester, such as Manchester Art Gallery, the People's History Museum and the Portico Library, are opening their doors to host trans film, literature, art, cabaret and club nights. SPARK takes place in the lead up to the Sparkle Weekend, curated by Trans Creative, a Manchester- based trans led, trans positive, and trans creative theatre company.

Part of our Never Going Underground season, a year long programme of exhibitions, events and learning programmes exploring the past, present and future of LGBT+ activism.

  • Please note event attendees must arrive at least ten minutes before the start time of the event, otherwise their booked space will be given to someone on the reserve list
  • Please contact the museum as soon as possible if you wish to cancel your reservation so your place can be given to another visitor
