This tour, which will start from the Duke of Gordon Hotel car park, will visit the Allt Mor above Kingussie, where a landscape-scale project to reduce flooding in the town below is being evaluated. The tour will then go on to look at natural recovery on the River Calder above Newtonmore, five years on from a previous project.
The tour will be led by Roger Knight, Chief Exective of the Spey Catchment Initiatative, who is well-known to Badenoch Heritage members from previous tours in the area. He will be joined by Ffion Robb, the Spey Tributaries Project Officer, who is leading efforts on the Allt Mor project and so is well-placed to talk about the most recent developments on the work there.
Some walking will be involved, so please wear stout footwear, but we will consolidate into fewer vehicles at the start to transport people closer to the action. We also cannot guarantee the weather so please bring appropriate outerwear on the day.
As the event is timed to last over lunchtime, attendees are recommended to bring a packed lunch and something to drink.
The event will start at 10am from the Hotel car park. Please aim to arrive 10 minutes before the start, when we will aim to consolidate in fewer vehicles. Pre-booking is essential.
We look forward to meeting you at the event!
