Event description

Description

Musical Connections is a small York-based charity, currently funded primarily by Arts Council England, which uses musical participation to improve the health and well-being of vulnerable and socially isolated adults, particularly older people.

Converge is a partnership between York St John University and mental health providers in the York region, providing educational opportunities for people who use mental health services. Now Musical Connections is teaming up with Communitas, Converge's community choir, to stage a unique concert.

Converging Connections will enable us to celebrate the fantastic partnership between our two organisations, and to highlight the shared vision of Converge and Musical Connections in bringing communal music-making to some of the most overlooked parts of our local community. The age span of our performers will range from 8 to almost 90 years old, and Musical Connections participants will be performing alongside Converge, York St John students and the children of St Aelred’s school choir, delivering a diverse feast of musical delights which will culminate in a mass choir performance of Converge member Laurie Farnell’s composition, Abundance.
