In this interdisciplinary conversation we will talk about ways to account for privilege in disability research. Privilege can refer to whiteness, hegemonic masculinity, heteronormativity, cis-ness, Westerness, middle classness, and, of course, neurotypicality, abledness and norms of saneness. We can, for instance, talk about privilege in abstract terms of norms, about privileged participants as well as about the privileged positions of (us as) researchers.
While this is a facilitated event, and some talking topics will be prepared, there is no set agenda.
The conversation is organised by the Neurodiversity and the Disability & Feminism Reading Groups (find info below).
At the start of the conversation some ground rules will be shared. These are intended to increase cross-disability accessibility as well as facilitate social inequalities.
We look forward to meeting you,
