Join us for a special event with George Clarke — architect, television presenter, lecturer, and writer, best known for his work on Channel 4’s The Home Show, George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, and more.

George has built a portfolio of businesses including a design studio, a construction company, and several property development businesses. He has also founded his own education charity, ‘MOBIE’, which aims to inspire young people to create sustainable homes for their future and has engaged students at Teesside University in design challenges for a number of years.

George will be in conversation with Festival Co-founder Wayne Hemingway MBE.

The National Festival of Making is not-for-profit. This event is free to attend with an optional donation to help cover our costs. Advance booking is essential and tickets will be checked at the door.

This talk is a Conversations in Creativity event delivered in partnership with Creative Lancashire.

Conversations in Creativity is Creative Lancashire’s series of talks and insightful interviews, where creatives from across the disciplines explore how inspiration, often from around the world, informs process. This special edition of Conversations in Creativity is presented in partnership with the National Festival of Making.

This talk is taking place in Blackburn Cathedral. The venue is accessible to people who use a wheelchair.

Please arrive at the venue no later than 10 minutes before the talk to allow time for your ticket to be checked and for you to find a seat. After this time, your seat may be allocated on a first come, first served basis to walk-up attendees. To prevent noise disruption, late entry is not permitted.

We are offering this talk on a 'pay what you feel' basis. Our guide price is between £5-15 however please choose a price that feels most appropriate for you. This talk is subsidised by our funding to make it as accessible as possible, however we really appreciate any donations. These go directly back into Festival of Making CIC to help us cover costs, and to allow us to contining offering free or subsidised content in the future.

About George Clarke

George is an architect, television presenter, campaigner and educator. He passionately believes that architecture, art and design should be accessible to everyone and has the power to transform and enrich lives.

Whether he is designing a new home, restoring or converting historic buildings or transforming existing houses on television, he recognizes and values the process that enables people to unlock the beauty of where they live.

George’s writing led to opportunities to develop a television career.

Architecture, design and property based, his TV programmes are distributed worldwide. Using his knowledge base and experience he makes good architectural design principles understandable and achievable. In 2012 George won multiple awards for his Empty Homes Campaign “The Great British Property Scandal” and in 2015 the success and high production values of “George Clarkes Amazing Spaces” were recognised in its nomination for a British Academy television award (BAFTA).
