In conversation with lula: an exploration of endurance as a means to shift states.
The audience are welcomed to draw, write or simply exist in the space with Lula. There is no pressure to respond in any particular way but to come just as you are.
Lula is drawn to meditative ritualism, shared knowledge and the politics of care. She fell into performance 5 years ago after a difficult time; it became a way to reclaim her body, take back power and control.
In this piece Lula returns to that series almost in conversation with herself back then.
Exploring the body and its limits, in an act to transcend beyond it's physical state. Becoming the discomfort in order to let go/move through it.
As the artist experiences these shifting states in real time, there is a unique element to this life drawing as the they move through raw emotion.
