Event description
An evening of special electronic music performances inspired by the rarely-heard cassette archive of the author Anthony Burgess.

About this Event

Electronic musician Scanner heads up an evening of special musical performances inspired by the rarely-heard cassette archive of the author Anthony Burgess.

Sub-Rosa are set to release a double LP of rare archival material and exclusive remixes, curated by artist Alan Dunn in collaboration with Guy-Marc Hinant. This one-off preview features The Reverend Max Ripple, Foreign Investment, David Birchall and Vicky Clarke presenting interpretations of their album tracks followed by a new piece from Scanner.

His work 'This Sound is Not for Listening’ offers up a form of time-travel through sound, reaching back into the past, re-constructing a momentary past in our digital present, a chance to let the ghosts of the past bring new new life to listeners.

Sub Rosa is a Brussels-based record label specialising in avant-garde music: their catalogue comprises over 250 works of drone, noise, concrete, ritual and film music. This performance takes place at the International Anthony Burgess Foundation, home to the Burgess estate: its collections include the cassettes that inspired tonight's performance.
