Description

Implementing best practice within a firm has become more important than ever before. Not only does it deliver on the demands of home movers, it can establish efficiencies within any law firm, leading to improved profitability. As a group of brands, we have come together to ensure you are supported every step of the way. Our Best Practice Masterclass is dedicated to helping you implement best practice within your firm.

The half-day seminar will include advisory sessions and practical training, enabling you to maximise your firms potential. Whether you have specific questions relating to SDLT or simply wish to understand how your firm can better employ best practice strategies.

Agenda:

12:30pm - Registration
----

1:00pm - Getting your business in order - Rob Hailstone, Bold Legal Group.
Rob will talk through the importance of regular training of staff, not just as a compliance exercise but to ensure firms are always ahead of the curve when it comes to risks. Rob will use the history from his famous BLG Bulletins to outline the most common queries.

1:25pm - Why best practice has been introduced - Craig Taylor, LEAP UK.
Craig will take a look at the different risks a law firm faces and how Best Practice addresses them in order to minimise exposure. Craig will also investigate the requirements of the insurer, lender, consumer and of course, the law firm.

1:50pm - The positive effect of best practice - Mike Leeman, Bell Lamb & Joynson.
Bell Lamb & Joynson are a rapidly expanding firm based in Runcorn. Mike will provide a peer to peer view on why adopting technology and working with partners is important to reducing risk. Mike will also discuss how using technology helps reduce PI Insurance.

2:15pm - Making the best of SDLT - David Hannah, Cornerstone Tax.
SDLT can include many complexities and different SDLT scenarios require different approaches – for example, lease extensions. David will be asking for your SDLT scenario’s and will give practical advice to help you tackle even the most complicated situations.

----

2.45pm - Tea break

----

3.15pm - Implementing change to the firm for success - Adam Bullion, InfoTrack.
For many firms, implementing change can be a challenge and a barrier to using new technology. Adam will discuss how treating technology as a colleague within the firm can benefit the change management process, looking at 5 key tasks.

3.30pm - Reducing your PI Insurance - Eugene Nelson, Trinity Indemnity.
Utilising best practice means reducing risk and improving PI Insurance premiums. However, the paperwork requires skill and precision. Eugene will join us to discuss how the form should be completed in order to give you the best result.

3.55pm - Keeping your firm up to date with changes to the law and precedents - Angus Dawson, By Lawyers.
In the legal industry, there are continuous changes that make it difficult to stay on top of everything. Precedents can change and law firms have to seek out the revised formats. Angus will outline how you can stay ahead of crucial changes in the market without having to set up alerts.

4.20pm - Maximising the training for your staff - Rob Hailstone, Bold Legal Group.
Rob will complete the afternoon by outlining how training works within the best practice framework. Rob will also outline the best way to ensure training becomes part of each firms DNA.
