Description

Please note that this is an INTERNAL event for UoB Staff and Students only. Please do not share externally.

We are pleased to welcome Christina Figueres to the Cabot Institute. Christiana is a Costa Rican diplomat who, from 2010-2016, was the Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). She was the architect of, and mastermind behind, the historic Paris Agreement signed in 2015 by 195 parties and 186 countries. She has also worked in the fields of climate change, sustainable development, energy, land use, technical and financial cooperation in various roles before taking the helm at UNFCCC.

Christiana has unique insights into the mechanics, politics, scientific basis and ethics of negotiating an international climate change treaty and we are delighted to welcome her to the University on 25th July. She has offered to have a roundtable discussion and Q&A session with anyone that would like to meet her and learn from her experiences and outlook for the future of the planet. You can find out more about Christiana at https://christianafigueres.com/#/myCarousel.
