Cook and Eat is a 6 week course for parents of children aged 2-5 years.
The aim is to teach basic cookery skills, improve awareness and understanding of the importance of a balanced diet and provide the opportunity to taste new foods in a fun and informal environment. Parents prepare the meals in the kitchen with the support and guidance of trained staff, while the children are cared for in a free crèche. Children join their parents at the end of the session to taste the delicious food.
In the current climate of rising food costs, participants attending the sessions will also learn key skills in how to budget to reduce the household food bill, as well as how to create menus for the whole family. Dishes include home-made bolognaise, healthy pizzas and soups, as well as low fat versions of family favourites.
