Description

Cook the Books returns after a summer break with a 'Special Edition' event for OctoberFeast with food critic Andy Lynes, author of Brighton's Best Cookbook.

The theme this month is 'local' - think about ingredients grown or produced nearby; dishes inspired by those you've tried at our region's restaurants; or perhaps something traditional, maybe Sussex Pond Pudding or the infamous Banoffie Pie?

Join us at our usual haunt, The Lewes Arms, for a bring-a-dish dinner and a chat about our favourite cookbooks.

Andy, one of the most followed UK restaurant critics, will start the evening with a few words about how he put Brighton's Best Cookbook together and his approach to recipe writing and editing.

We'll follow as usual, with a brief intro to what each of us has brought followed by a two-course feast of home-cooked food.

Signed copies of Brighton's Best Cookbook will be available to buy on the night.

New to Cook the Books? Here are some tips
  • Be prepared to give a brief, informal intro to the group about what you have brought
  • No need to go wild: a single dish as per recipe to serve 2-4 should be ample
  • Leftovers must be taken home with you
  • Bring appropriate storage and serving equipment for your dish
  • Paper plates and disposable cutlery will be provided but, to cut down on waste, guests are encouraged to bring their own
