Event description
We are told the world is heating up and a climate change disaster needs to be averted. But what can we do about it here in the South West?

About this event

This autumn, the debate over global warming and the world’s response to it will take place in Glasgow, as the UN’s climate change conference, COP26 meets in the Scottish city.

Here in our part of the world, practical solutions are being sought and used to help fulfil the goal of reaching net zero.

The Active Building Centre (ABC) is a government funded organisation, aimed at transforming construction in the UK. From working with academia, government departments, local authorities and developers, ABC is helping to map the route to making low carbon buildings a reality in the UK.

With 40% of UK carbon emissions said to come from buildings, its not an optional extra, it’s a necessity.

Ahead of COP26 in Glasgow, ABC is hosting a COP fringe event in Berkeley, Gloucestershire. We will discuss issues ranging from leadership on the green agenda, the role of the public sector in reaching net zero, to the need for green skills, and how the UK’s construction industry needs to adapt or wither.

Find out how ABC has helped deliver more affordable and environmentally friendly homes & developments, as well as hearing from guests such as, Ecotricity’s Dale Vince and Robert Llewellyn from Fullycharged.
