About this event
To celebrate the fast-approaching UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow and coinciding with the launch of Edsential’s Climate Change Teacher Toolkit, we would like to invite teachers and educators to a series of FREE teacher CPD sessions this term.
Edsential’s Teacher Toolkit was developed with our partners Chester Zoo and Efeca to support teachers with classroom-based learning related to the COP26 conference, covering EYFS through to Key Stage 4. The CPD sessions have been designed to further support you in bringing the climate change conversation into the classroom.
SESSION 1:COP26 - Is your school ready?
Thursday 21st October 4:00pm-5:00pm
- Guest Speaker: Catherine Barton, Field Conservation Manager at Chester Zoo.
Catherine was recently selected as one of David Attenborough and Prince William's top inspirational people leading the change in their Earthshot Prize Documentary. watch here
SESSION 2: COP26 - Building an ambitious eco-curriculum
10th November 4:00pm-5:00pm
Presented by Edsential CIC’s leads in PE, Health and Wellbeing, LOtC, Culture and Residential, with Senior Curriculum Leads from across the UK, delegates will explore what Ofsted are looking for in an ‘ambitious curriculum’, how the intent, implementation and impact of the climate change agenda can be developed in schools, and links to further resources and programmes to support settings in achieving #OneStepGreener.
SESSION 3: Post COP26 - What comes next for your school?
17th November 4:00pm-5:00pm
You will get the chance to explore in depth some of the Cabinet Office’s top climate change resources with our experts, join in demonstrations on how to effectively deliver these activities in your setting, and hear from our network of leaders in environmental change.
But COP26 is just the beginning. Working with Ofsted, you will hear first-hand what inspectors are looking for in effective curriculum design, delivery and assessment and how to effectively incorporate the COP26 goals into the curriculum. The climate change conversation goes so much further than science and geography lessons - from residential trips to support your classroom learning or embedding climate change topics into PE or creative and performing arts, our experts are on-hand to support you for the long run.
Please note: To make the most of this training, delegates are advised to attend all three sessions.
About us
Edsential are a community interest company with the mission to change children’s lives. We know that to do this, we have a responsibility to support schools and empower young people to lead environmental change.
This began in 2019, when we became the World’s First Certified Sustainable Palm Oil Catering Company. But we didn’t stop there. Our latest initiative, the Edsential Climate Change Teacher Toolkit, saw us working alongside Chester Zoo, Efeca and the Cabinet Office to support teachers with classroom-based learning related to the goals of the COP26 conference.
Through our team of curriculum experts and our broad network of environmental and conservation leaders, we can all join together to achieve the COP26 goals.
