Join Buddhist nun Kelsang Chogma for a four-week series of meditation classes learning simple methods to cope with the changing restrictions with a happy mind and get off to a positive start to the year!
Wed 13 Jan - Dealing with Anxiety
Feeling anxious? An awful lot of us are at the moment. Anxiety and stress are increasingly common problems that prevent us from experiencing inner peace and enjoying life. With simple meditations that anyone can learn, we can develop a deep inner peace that doesn't waver in the face of difficulties and daily challenges. Tune in to this class to find out how.
Wed 20 Jan - Dispelling Fear
The source of all our fear is our own uncontrolled minds, or delusions. If we learn about the nature of our mind and how to control it in meditation, we can stop allowing our negative thoughts to bully us and make us fearful. We’ll discover a haven of peace and joy within, so we can live our lives without fear.
Wed 27 Jan - Healing The Heart
Throughout this whole situation, many of us are more and more affected by feelings of isolation, loneliness and depression. In this class we’ll discover how to heal our heart through meditating on love. By meditating on love we can learn to feel deeply connected with others at all times, and never feel isolated or depressed.
Wed 3 Feb - This Too Shall Pass
When things are tough, it can be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Through grasping at our problems as if they’re permanent we create a lot of suffering for ourselves. In truth, every functioning thing is impermanent, and whatever problems we may be experiencing, however painful, will come to an end. Learn how to relax into this liberating truth: this too shall pass!
THE TEACHER
The teacher is Buddhist nun Kelsang Chogma, the Resident Teacher for Ganden Kadampa Buddhist Centre in Halifax. She has been practising and teaching meditation and modern Buddhism for over twenty years.
Chogma was ordained as a Buddhist nun in 2009 by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso and serves as a wonderful example of the ordained way of life in the modern world. She is loved for her joyful enthusiasm and gentle skill in guiding meditations.
