Event description
COPMeD/MDRS Careers Conference 2020

About this Event

Join us at the Sage, Gateshead as we explore the 4 nation approach to supporting our doctors and dentists. Talks and workshops will focus on:

  • Updates to the foundation review
  • Career burnout and recognising the signs
  • Foundation career destinations
  • Cultural and impact on career
  • Preparation for specialty training
  • SAS career pathways

We are also delighted to welcome our keynote speaker Professor Sheona MacLeod, Deputy Director of Medical Education Reform, who will be providing us all with an update on changes to postgraduate training pathways.

We will also hear from current doctors about their experience of careers support and what they found most helpful.

We will also be hosting a workshop focused around our dental colleagues (more info to follow).

This event is aimed at faculty members and educators/supervisors who play a role in the training and support of doctors and dentists. We also welcome the voice of current doctors/dentists who are either in training or employment to attend and help shape national agendas.

Accommodation:

We have organised corporate rates with local hotels. If you wish to book accommodation for the 27th of February, please get in touch (jonathan.baxter@hee.nhs.uk) and we can pass on the corporate rates.

Call for Poster Abstracts

Deadline for submissions 5pm, Monday 20th January 2020

You are invited to submit abstracts of posters concerned with careers or education research, new concepts in supporting undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical and healthcare education, and evaluated careers or educational development for the COPMeD/MDRS Careers Conference. One of our goals is to share best practice and the presenting your own work is an important mechanism in this programme. Submissions should follow the main theme of the conference.

This year’s theme is “Valuing our doctors” and so innovation and cutting edge ideas are welcome.

Guidelines for Submission:

• Submissions may address issues of education, support or career development at any stage of medical education.

• All abstracts should indicate the main conclusions of the paper

• Written abstracts should not be more than 250 words in length (excluding title, authors and references)

• Whilst we recognise that members may wish to submit abstracts on work in progress, as part of the scoring process, assessors will take into account whether results are included within the abstract

Please submit abstracts to careers.ne@hee.nhs.uk by the 20th January 2020
