Who We Are

COPRNET, or the Cybercrime & Online Harms PRactitioner NETwork is a pan-Wales network for practitioners and researchers across law enforcement, public, private and third sectors, with a shared interest in supporting individuals and small organisations who experienced, or are at risk of, online crime or harm.

Aims

1. To bring together professionals with a shared interest in supporting individuals and small organisations who experienced online crime or harm.
2. To provide a space for members to meaningfully connect with each other and thus enable peer support.
3. To enable knowledge exchange and collaboration across sectors and disciplines.
4. To enable members to expand their networks nationally and internationally.

Our History

This network grew out of the Swansea Cyber Clinic, a 2022 collaborative pilot project between Swansea University, South Wales Police and the Swansea Council for Voluntary Services (SCVS), funded by the Morgan Advanced Studies Institute (MASI).

In addition, the Swansea Cyber Clinic was inspired by the Cybercrime Awareness Clinic at the University of Portsmouth and has benefited from the insights of an advisory board, including representatives from academia, industry, public and third sectors.

Swansea was once nicknamed "Copperopolis" for its historical role in the copper production industry, hence the acronym COPR, the Welsh word for Copper.

Activities & Ethos

Quarterly networking sessions, hybrid (in-person/virtual) events, guest speakers, an online community and more and joint events with allied organisations nationally (e.g., the Digital Inclusion Alliance Wales and the Cybercrime Awareness Clinic in Portsmouth) and internationally.

COPRNET fosters a non-hierarchical, diverse and a welcoming space. It will provide a space where discussion is constructive, non-adversarial and aims to help each other improve understandings and practices. We want members to feel welcome and able to share their views and experiences.

Who Can Join

Professionals across the public, private and third sectors, with an interest in supporting individuals and small organisations who experienced, or are at risk of, online crime or harms. While this network has a Wales-focus, we welcome all who share our aims and ethos. To join the network, please complete this brief Expression of Interest form.

Mae COPRNET, sef Rhwydwaith Ymarferwyr Seiberdroseddu a Niwed Ar-lein, yn rhwydwaith dros Gymru gyfan i ymarferwyr ac ymchwilwyr ym meysydd gorfodi'r gyfraith, y sectorau cyhoeddus a phreifat a'r trydydd sector sy'n rhannu diddordeb mewn cefnogi unigolion a sefydliadau bach sydd wedi profi troseddu neu niwed ar-lein neu sydd mewn perygl o hynny.

Ein Hanes

Deilliodd y rhwydwaith hwn o Glinig Seiber Abertawe, prosiect peilot cydweithredol yn 2022 rhwng Prifysgol Abertawe, Heddlu De Cymru a Chyngor Gwasanaethau Gwirfoddol Abertawe (SCVS), a ariannwyd gan Sefydliad Astudiaethau Uwch Morgan (MASI).

Yn ogystal, ysbrydolwyd Clinig Seiber Abertawe gan y Clinig Ymwybyddiaeth o Seiberdroseddu ym Mhrifysgol Portsmouth ac mae wedi elwa o ddealltwriaeth gan fwrdd cynghori, gan gynnwys cynrychiolwyr o'r byd academaidd, byd diwydiant, y sector cyhoeddus a'r trydydd sector.

Ar un adeg, bu gan Abertawe y llysenw "Copperopolis" am ei rôl hanesyddol yn y diwydiant cynhyrchu copr, a dyna'r rheswm am yr acronym COPR, sef y gair Cymraeg.

Gweithgareddau ac Ethos

Sesiynau rhwydweithio chwarterol, digwyddiadau hybrid (wyneb yn wyneb/yn rhithwir), siaradwyr gwadd, cymuned ar-lein a mwy a digwyddiadau ar y cyd â sefydliadau cysylltiedig yn genedlaethol (e.e. Cynghrair Cynhwysiant Digidol Cymru a'r Clinig Ymwybyddiaeth o Seiberdroseddu yn Portsmouth) ac yn rhyngwladol.

Mae COPR yn meithrin lle amrywiol a chroesawgar nad yw'n hierarchaidd. Bydd yn darparu man lle mae trafodaeth yn adeiladol, nad yw'n wrthwynebol, a'i nod fydd helpu ei gilydd i wella dealltwriaeth ac arferion. Rydym am i aelodau deimlo bod croeso iddynt a'u bod yn gallu rhannu eu safbwyntiau a'u profiadau.

Pwy All Ymuno

Gweithwyr proffesiynol ar draws y sector cyhoeddus, y sector preifat a'r trydydd sector, sydd â diddordeb mewn cefnogi unigolion a sefydliadau bach sydd wedi profi troseddau neu niwed ar-lein, neu sydd mewn perygl o hynny. Er bod gan y rhwydwaith hwn ffocws ar Gymru, rydym yn croesawu pawb sy'n rhannu ein nodau a'n hethos. I ymuno â'r rhwydwaith, cwblhewch y ffurflen Mynegiant o Ddiddordeb fer hon.
