Event description
Join us on Friday 5th June at The Old Brewery Store (in Faversham) for a night of fantastic comedy! Featuring headliner… DANE BAPTISTE!

About this Event

Join our MC for the evening, SAM RHODES, as he leads you through an evening of fantastic stand-up comedy! Featuring performances from the following Comedians, from the UK’s Comedy Circuit: RAVI HOLY, RUSSELL ARATHOON, LYLE BARKE, KATHRYN MATHER and our headline act for the evening… DANE BAPTISTE!

Original and provocative, Dane Baptiste has already being hailed as one of the most exciting acts to break in years. The London born stand up made comedy history in 2014 as the first black British act to be nominated for a Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He has since written and starred in his own BBC sitcom series and made numerous other TV and radio appearances.

In 2018 Dane set out on a massive world tour, covering numerous territories, with his smash hit third stand up hour G.O.D. (Gold. Oil. Drugs.) about our worldwide pursuit of wealth, power and pleasure.

TV credits include hosting Live at the Apollo (BBC Two) and Live from the Comedy Store (Comedy Central), Tonight at the London Palladium(ITV1), Mock the Week (BBC Two), Live from the BBC (BBC Two), 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Channel 4) and his own BBC sitcom, Sunny D.

He also hosts his own hugely successful podcast Dane Baptiste Questions Everything, is a member of comedy collective Quotas Full and is currently working on numerous scripted projects for both the UK and US.

WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT OUR ACTS?

Sam Rhodes is a comedy journeyman on a quest for laughs. Armed with his trusty loop station, he makes jokes and composes off the cuff songs about whatever takes his fancy. He's extensively toured Europe and the states, Runs shows, plays shows and is basically a mid century Gadabout for the 2020s. He's shot specials for the BBC and Next up, and tours an hour around the states a few months of the year.

“Sam is one of the most innovative musical comedians out there” - British Comedy Guide
“Sam Rhodes, inventive, unpredictable, warm, and utterly convicted of whatever mad tangent he goes down next...” - Tom Ward, Chortle Best Newcome

Ravi Holy is the vicar of Wye by day and a comedian by night. In 2016, he was a semi-finalist in So You Think You're Funny? and won the Canterbury Festival's comedy competition. He was also voted 'Funniest Vicar' in a competition judged by the four Inbetweeners after performing live on The One Show (although, to be fair there were only two other entrants!) In 2019, he did an Edinburgh show with two other vicars called White Collar Comedy and was a guest on both Saturday Morning Live on Radio 4 and Sunday Morning Live on BBC1.

“Ravi Holy has imagination, social comment, well-structured gags and a charming stage persona” - Oliver Double
“Excellent, hilariously funny, can’t wait to have him back!” - Al Cowie

Kathryn Mather has been described as "dark, sharp and largely unprintable" by The Oxford Times. She won the Frog and Bucket World Series in 2017, South East New Comedian 2018 and placed 3rd at the Leicester Mercury New Comedian 2019, and hosts Zero Hours podcast.

“Very funny with a distinctive comic voice” – Nish Kumar
“Kathryn is one of those new comedians that makes you want to quit she’s so prodigious. She’s a brilliant and unique voice.”– Kiri Pritchard-McLean

Manchester comic Russell Arathoon, recently signed to A Rush Of Laughter management delivers an effortless, engaging and energetic set. He was in this years Amused Comedian of the year final in Edinburgh, a Manchester New Comedian of the Year finalist and won Hasting comedy festival comedian of the year. His debut hour “The Curious Incidents of the Gay in the Night-Time” had a successful Edinburgh fringe run and went on to do a mini tour of the UK. Russell provides a set with laugh out loud belly laughs and tongue in cheek smut.

“Instantly connects with the audience” - Chortle
“A guilty pleasure, his style is throughly engaging” - Chortle

Lyle Barke went to RADA and has therefore never lived up to his potential. Instead he tells jokes in sweaty basements across London. Join him for a series of embarrassing and often sordid tales, intertwined with quotes from his 86 year old Nan. Lyle has been a Max Turner Prize Semi Finalist 2019, and Get Up, Stand Up Semi Finalist 2019.

"Superb Comic Performance." - PleaseMindTheBlog
"Great stage presence. This guy is NOT shit!" - Leo Kearse
