Lydiard Park is a beautiful historic estate on the western edge of Swindon, with the Palladian House, Church and Walled Garden, set in 260 acres of parkland. There is a children's play area, Cafe & Tea Rooms, and beautiful grounds to explore. Its within easy reach of the M4. As you go round the park, you will see many of the remnants of this once-grand country estate. Many of the 18th century historic landscape features have been restored, including the Ice House in the woodlands near the house, which was used to store ice to chill food in the house in the summer months. The large lake was also reinstated and the Georgian Walled Garden was restored to its former glory.

There are Challenge prizes for fastest man and woman in each distance at each individual event. There will not be prizes for the fastest teams this year. This will be replaced by some new prizes provided by our sponsors. Details will be supplied in the final details. To give us the opportunity to add additional events during 2017, there will not be a series competition as there was in 2016.
All the routes are off road and traffic free with attractive views. Suitable for all levels of fitness and for children and adults (children must be over the age of 8). If you are new to Nordic walking you must have a lesson prior to taking part in the Challenge. Please contact British Nordic Walking for details of how to book a Nordic Walking lesson.
Pole hire available and free taster sessions are available for those new to Nordic Walking.
New for 2017. At the request of our volunteers who work very hard running the events, we have introduced a course closure time of four hours after the start of the 21km at 9:30am. At approximately 1:30pm course marshals will leave their positions and collect in signage. Participants will be advised that they can either retire from the course or complete the route by self-navigation.
