About this event

  • Event lasts 8 hours 30 minutes

The term "Apnea" encompasses all breathold activities from Health Apnea to Competitive Freediving.

Aspects covered on this course:

1. Safety

2. Relaxation

3. Basic physiology

4. Breathing techniques

The day will include technical lectures (part of AIDA 2*), breathing and relaxation, technique and two hours of practical time in the pool.

You will be introduced to sub-aquatic relaxation strategies that will not only benefit freedivers, but also SCUBA divers, sports enthusiasts and help to eliminate stress (exams, meetings etc). Learn all the essential principles of freediving with plenty of opportunity for questions.

You will just need your normal swimming gear and a t-shirt or rash vest to wear in the pool (to keep warm). Bring some comfortable clothes for relaxation/yoga/breathing exercises on the mats. We have fins and masks to borrow, but if you have your own mask and/or short fins please feel free to bring them along.

There is a cafe on site, but you are welcome to bring your own lunch.

Frequently asked questions

Is equipment provided?

Fins and masks are provided. You will need to bring swim wear, a towel and if you want a rash vest to wear in the water.

Is there food onsite?

There is a small cafe onsite, but we recommend bringing a packed lunch and snacks for the day.

What should I wear?

For the dry classes we recommend comfortable light layer clothes. E.G leggings or jogging bottoms, and loose tops with jumpers. For the pool, normal swim wear, e.g trunks or a swimming costume.
