Getting to grips With your Digital Camera Part 2 - 2017-18

The modern camera has a vast number of controls ranging from fully automatic operation to fully manual control for the most advanced. Automatic (or Program mode) sufices for a wide variety of pictures. But as your interest in photography grows you will find the need to take control of your camera, to understand what it wants to do, and to make it do it better.

This is an introduction to the camera controls, what they do and how and when you may wish to override the automatic settings. No previous knowledge or skill is assumed.

This is Part 1 of a three part series. We will introduce you to the principal initial settings and why they are important.

For Part 2 you will be teamed up with an experienced club member who will arrange excursions or 1:1 sessions to consolidate your understanding of the topics covered in Part 1.

Part 3, in next January, will take you through the rest of the principal settings.
