L ivestock worrying by dogs is a major problem in the UK, causing much stress to livestock and farmers, and the costs to the sheep industry are huge. Tobin Bird has been training dog owners to control their dogs for the past 15 years on his sheep farm in Kent. He is coming to Brecon to train owners and dogs for 3 days in September. He cannot guarantee that your dog won't chase animals again, but if dog owners reinforce the training, it will lead to much more peaceful walks, with dogs under control. He also recommends that dog owners always keep their dogs on leads if there are sheep in the vicinity.

The one-to-one sessions are only 20 minutes in length and are quite intense (as the session is intense dogs should ideally be at least 6 months of age, unless they are very bold), so it is essential to arrive early so that the session can be explained before you start. People often ask if a 20 minute session suffices; from years of experience it definitely does, especially if the dog owners reinforce the training.
