About this event

I ddathlu 30 mlynedd o ddarparu gofal eithriadol yn ein cymuned, mae Hosbis Sant Cyndeyrn yn falch i gyhoeddi y bydd Côr Godre’r Aran yn perfformio yn Eglwys Gadeiriol Llanelwy, Nos Sadwrn, 30 Awst 2025 am 19:00.

Mae'r côr enwog hwn wedi teithio'n eang trwy Brydain Fawr, gan berfformio mewn lleoliadau ysblennydd fel Theatr y Globe yn Llundain a Neuadd Frenhinol Albert. Mae eu teithiau rhyngwladol yn cynnwys ymddangosiadau yn Awstralia (saith gwaith), Seland Newydd, Patagonia, Canada, yr UD, Tasmania, Hong Kong a Singapore. Er i'r côr berfformio'n fyd eang, hwn fydd y tro cyntaf iddynt ganu yn Eglwys Gadeiriol Llanelwy.

Mae'r côr wedi bod o dan arweiniad medrus Eirian Owen ers 1975. Graddiodd Eirian, sy'n frodor o Lanuwchllyn, ym Mhrifysgol Bangor ac i ddilyn aeth yn Bennaeth Cerddoriaeth yn Ysgol y Gader, Dolgellau, yna'n ddiweddarach fe'i penodwyd yn athrawes yn Ysgol Gerdd Chetham ym Manceinion. Am llawer blwyddyn, bu Eirian yn gyfeilyddes yn yr Eisteddfod Rhyngwladol yn ogystal â Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru.

Ymhlith y côr mae pump aelod sydd wedi ennill y Rhuban Glas yn cynnwys yr ennillydd ieuengaf â'r hynaf, pob un ohonynt wedi cael ei haddysgu gan Eirian. Mae cyfraniad Eirian i gerddoriaeth Gymraeg ac addysg gerddorol yn enfawr ac yn amhrisiadwy.

Yr unawdwyr yn y cyngerdd:

  • Elis Jones (Tenor)
  • Sion Eilir Roberts (Baritone)
  • Stephanie Jones - Prif Gornetydd y Gerddorfa Ieuenctid Gymraeg a Band Prês Cenedlaethol Ieuenctid Cenedlaethol Prydain Fawr.

Am fwy o wybodaeth am ein côr dilynwch y 'linc' isod neu ewch ar-lein i ddysgu mwy am ein teithiau â'n hanes cyfoethog.

______________________________

To celebrate 30 years of delivering exceptional care within our community, St Kentigern Hospice is delighted to announce that Côr Godre’r Aran will be performing at St Asaph Cathedral on Saturday evening, 30 August 2025 at 19:00.

This outstanding choir has toured extensively throughout Great Britain, performing at prestigious venues such as the Globe Theatre in London and the Royal Albert Hall. Their international tours include appearances in Australia (seven times), New Zealand, Patagonia, Canada, the USA, Tasmania, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Remarkably, despite their wide-reaching performances, this will be their first time singing at St Asaph Cathedral.

The choir has been under the direction of Eirian Owen since 1975. A native of Llanuwchllyn, Eirian graduated from Bangor University before becoming Head of Music at Ysgol y Gader, Dolgellau, and later teaching at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester. For many years, she has also been an accompanist at both the International Eisteddfod and the National Eisteddfod of Wales.

Within the choir are five Blue Ribbon winners, including both the youngest and the oldest recipients — all of whom have been tutored by Eirian. Her contribution to Welsh music and music education is vast and invaluable.

The evening’s soloists will include:

  • Elis Jones (Tenor)
  • Sion Eilir Roberts (Baritone)
  • Stephanie Jones, Principal Cornet for both the Welsh Youth Orchestra and the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.

Feel free to click the link below, or alternatively, search for our choir online to learn more about our rich history and journey.
