Cornerstone Big Sleep In 2020
Event Information
Description
Why The Big Sleep In? Each year Caritas Salford invites people to take on the challenge of The Big Sleep Out—sleeping outside for one night to highlight some of the hardships that many people have to face on the streets every night. This event helps to raise much needed funds for our homelessness projects at Cornerstone Manchester.
This year, due to the pandemic, we were unable to hold the Big Sleep Out so we put our heads together (virtually of course!) to see what we could do instead. Instead of the Big Sleep Out, this year we have decided to hold THE BIG SLEEP IN!
What is The Big Sleep In? In solidarity with many homeless people who fall beneath the radar because they are “sofa-surfers”, we are inviting individuals, families and households to “sleep in” for the night but somewhere other than in your own comfortable bed. This could be on the floor, on the sofa, under the stairs or somewhere else indoors—as long as it is safe, legal and complies with the current government guidelines in place for social distancing, and protecting yourself and others from coronavirus.
This is an awareness-raising and fundraising event. Any money you raise from The Big Sleep In will go towards our projects to help the homeless and most vulnerable at Cornerstone.
An event pack will be emailed with more information about the night once you have registered.
