Cornwall Architectural Trust and RIBA Annual Lecture with Hugh Strange
Overview
Hugh Strange Architects are an intentionally small and hands-on practice, making buildings with thought and care. Hugh is as much preoccupied with the cultural and historic contexts of architecture as with practical and cost-effective building. Central to his work is the precise handling of material and structure, and the sensitive yet radical transformation of existing sites and buildings.
Known for his precise and materially sensitive architecture, Hugh Strange has developed a body of work that bridges the realms of practice and academic inquiry.
House on a Hill, Hastings
The work of Hugh Strange Architects has attracted international attention, culminating in the recent nomination of their “House on a Hill” for the RIBA Stirling Prize, 2025. Hugh will be presenting the beautiful renovation of this eccentric 19th-century home, and the addition of a cascade of interlocking spaces at its rear.
