The University of Exeter, Cornwall Campus would like to invite you to our upcoming virtual breakfast series on the 27th November 2020.
This event will see three keynote speakers discuss What is Circular Design? Looking at examples in the sector and future innovations.
Along with industry analysis, there will be insights from local businesses and thought leaders.

Dr Kate Goldsworthy
Reader in Circular Textile Design
Co-Director, Centre for Circular Design (CCD), Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London
Bio
Kate is a designer and academic working to bridge materials science, industry and design through multidisciplinary & practice-led research. Having worked in the design industry for over ten years, in 2012 she completed the first UK practice-based doctorate focused on ‘designing textiles for the circular economy’. Since then she has continued to explore future manufacturing and recovery contexts, including ten years with UK fibre-to-fibre technology start-up Worn Again Technologies. She advises on several industry boards and policy groups and her design work has been exhibited & collected internationally.

Dr Merryn Haines-Gadd
University of Exeter
Merryn is a design, innovation and sustainability researcher and has embodied this role in various capacities within industry and academia over the last 12 years. She is currently a post-doc researcher within the Exeter Centre for Circular Economy (ECCE). She works in the EPSRC consortium ‘Manufacturing Immortality’ investigating the design opportunities and Circular Economy implications of implementing self-healing materials within product development. Merryn will discuss her recent project which is to explore the development of bio-hybrid and synthetic self-healing materials and potential use in the textile industry.
