Event description
The overarching theme for the 2019 CCFF Conference is Community Resilience, reflecting on current issues relating to flooding in Cornwall.

About this Event

Cornwall Community Flood Forum will be holding its popular annual conference this year on Monday 4th November at St Johns Hall in Penzance. Once again, we've secured an engaging line-up of speakers and, new to this year, interactive workshops for you to participate in.

Heading back to CCFF's original routes, the Community Resilience theme will focus on CCFF’s most frequent enquiries from communities. The current list of confirmed speakers includes FloodRE, the Environment Agency and Cornwall Council, including a presentation on the new Defra PFR Pathfinder Project in which CCFF is a delivery partner in! For a full line-up speakers, please see the poster at the bottom of this page.

Our afternoon workshops are designed to be practical, engaging and supportive. You can choose to attend 2 workshops from a choice of the following 3 topics:

Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS): A scenario-based exercise looking at developments with different drainage issues. Together with the morning presentation, this topic will explore how the team assess applications, legitimate grounds for public objections and how Parish/Town Councils can constructively engage with the process in Neighbourhood Planning.

Property Flood Resilience (PFR): An opportunity to explore a variety of PFR products and a first look at some of the new Pathfinder training materials.

Recruiting Flood Warden Volunteers: A facilitated workshop to feel confident in recruiting additional volunteers for your community and be prepared for a flooding incident or emergency.

If your first-choice workshop is fully booked, please try selecting it for the second time slot.

We will also have a market stall in place where you can talk to a variety of agencies, businesses and projects such as South West Water, FloodFlash, StARR project and many more!

Due to the popularity of this event, it is advised that you book as soon as possible, particularly to secure your first choice of workshops! If you have any questions, please contact our Community Flood Resilience Coordinator: Molly.Flynn@cornwallrcc.org.uk or phone 07975711429.

We look forward to seeing you there!
