The Space Within: A Retreat in Cornwall

Thursday 2nd – Sunday 5th October 2025

Held by Sam Starr & Shehnaaz Latif

There are some places on this earth that invite something deeper to stir -old lands where the veil feels thinner, and listening comes more easily.St. Nectan's Glen is one of those places.

Join us this October in Boscastle, North Cornwall - land of waterfall sanctuaries, cool streams and ancient ports - for a long-weekend retreat to return to yourself.

This is a gentle space for city-dwellers, empaths and creatives of all genders who feel the quiet pull to reconnect with nature, with spirit, and with the wisdom that lives within.

Our theme is intention-setting through listening -listening to the rhythms of the land, the voice of your body, the whispers of something deeper. There will be space to release what’s ready to be let go, and to begin calling in what you truly long for.

What to expect:

Each day will include short, sacred circle - with meditation, tarot journalling, and aromatic anchoring using essential oils - offering a gentle way to connect to self.

There will be time for group walks and deep reflection, as well as a visit to the local Museum of Witchcraft and Magic.

At the heart of the retreat will be a ceremony held at the waterfall in St. Nectan’s Glen where there will be a chance to honour release and welcome in what’s next, supported by the energy of water, nature, and the circle. Bring a foot towel to paddle in the healing waters!

Accommodation & Nourishment:

The retreat will be taking place in a welcoming home on a set on top of Trevillet Valley overlooking Bossiney Bay in between the villages of Tintagel and Boscastle (the house will be an alcohol-free zone). There are rooms available in the main house (single or double occupancy if you are sharing with a friend). In addition there are 2 outdoor cabins: one is reclaimed train carriage with a double bed and the other is an ex-mobile library with one king sized bed and a single sofa bed, and an outdoor shower. There is also space to bring a camper van.

Breakfast and dinner will be provided each day, simple, vegetarian and nourishing, or in the local restaurant. Lunch will be flexible — there’ll be options to eat out locally, picnic, or graze as you wish. You're welcome to bring any treats or snacks you love to have on hand..

In the evenings we will be offering herbal teas, sunset chats, and plenty of space to just be.

We host half-day intention-setting retreats every season and whilst this is our first residential retreat, here are some reviews from our previous circles:

"A very safe and welcoming space surrounded by some lovely people. I went in feeling heavy and bound and came out feeling light and free. I was able to let go of a lot of the things that were holding me back. Would always recommend these two and their intention-setting retreats; their gifts complement each other perfectly."

"A very enjoyable day! I gained insight into what is important to me and how I see myself. `I also gained other perspectives from hearing other group member's stories. I left with a clear plan for my intentions".

"I gained some more clarity about what I wanted from this year. It was lovely to share thoughts and felt very relaxing. Overall it was a lovely event."

"The event created a nurturing, peaceful yet fun space to explore my intentions for the year. Being in a yurt, surrounded by amazing scenery was fabulous and it was lovely to meet new people. I particularly enjoyed the hand massages and wonderful aromas from the blend of oils used. I also really enjoyed the use of tarot cards to explore my direction for the year."

"It was great to spend some personal time just focussing on myself in an amazing space. Being surrounded by others who are there for their reasons and realising through sharing that we each have our own positivities (and struggles) was reassuring and comforting."

"Sam and Shehnaaz are exceptional facilitators and I would highly recommend anyone to attend!"

Frequently asked questions

What kind of walking will be included?

Walking will be on unpaved, earthy and rocky paths along well-marked, moderate trails. Proper walking shoes/boots are essential.

What happens if it rains?

Please bring wet weather gear for the potential of walking in the rain. For the most part we will be walking along sheltered trails, however, there might be a stretch across a field, or some walking in Boscastle which is unsheltered.

How much walking will we do every day?

On Day 2 there will be a moderate walk of approximately two hours in length. On Day 3 the walk into St. Nectan's Glen takes 30 minutes to and from the car park. Once inside there is a 5-min descent down timber steps to the waterfall. The upward ascent is with timber steps and an earthy/rocky path.

Will there be parking costs?

The main house and the cottage have a handful of parking spaces. Boscastle has a municipal P&D car-park within walking distance.

Can we bathe at the waterfall?

The waters of St.Nectan's Glen are said to be healing and we recommend you bring a foot towel should you wish to paddle in the waters. Visitors to the waterfall can bathe in the waterfall pool but this is not facilitated on this retreat so would be done at your own risk.

What's the nearest train station?

Bodmin Parkway is the nearest, with direct trains from Paddington, London.
