Event description
An alternative one day symposium for design research students across the UK

About this Event

Corridor Conversations is a one day symposium for design research students across the UK. The aim of the event is to bring together those carrying out research about and through design, with the aim of growing a research community.

This symposium will take an alternative approach to academic conferences focusing on discussions and actions, oppose to traditional formal paper presenting. We believe this will add real-time value for the participants through the promotion of activities involving ‘thinking outside the box’ of traditional settings. Programme examples are, namely;

-‘Peering Research’ session enhancing connectivity and knowledge exchange.

-‘Lab’ sessions enabling participants to receive valuable feedback on a pre-submitted project question or workshop ideas of their choice.

Submission Routes

The panel invites topical subjects and contributions proposed for diverse discussions either via the green or blue lab. For the green lab, each participant will be allocated a time-slot of 10 – 20 minutes. For the blue lab each participant will be allocated a maximum time-slot of 30 minutes. This is dependent on the number of attendees, so you will be notified closer to the date of your allocated time. Proposal examples are: PhD titles, conceptual ideologies, current viewpoints, or challenging project questions.

'Green Lab'

This route requires you to pre-submit a project question or challenging concept with the intention of using spoken language as a way of addressing and debating your proposed text.

'Blue Lab'

This route invites you to pre-submit a product demonstration or workshop idea with the intention of using physical means as a way of addressing and debating your proposed text.

Please visit http://corridorconversations.harts.online/application/ to submit your ideas for Lab sessions.

Submission Deadline Date: Extended until 10th June 2019

Important Information

We invite all participants to bring one object of their choice as a method of introducing themselves to other symposium attendees in a 1-minute ‘Breaking Ice’ session.
