East Coseley Big Local's Community Cinema is hosting a special event for Funny Things festival in October. Supported by Black Country Touring, the community cinema is in a dementia-friendly environment with drinks and snacks provided and space to have a chat with your neighbour.

For this special edition, East Coseley Big Local welcome the Grand Sheik of the Birmingham branch of the Laurel and Hardy Appreciation Society! John Ullah will be leading a talk about Laurel and Hardy’s connections to the Black Country complete with photographs and a slideshow of their time here. John is also the author of ‘This is More Than I Can Stand’, biography of Birmingham-born Laurel and Hardy co-star Charlie Hall. Audience members are encouraged to bring their memories and stories along with them as well as a bellyful of laughs to also enjoy two classic black and white comedies featuring the greatest double-act of all time; Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.

The Finishing Touch (1928)

Laurel and Hardy are hired to finish building a house, with the offer of a $500 bonus if they do it quickly. Can they finish the job on time?

Dirty Work (1933)

The boys are chimney sweeps who have been called to the home of a mad professor. Amongst the chaos and destruction they cause, they stumble across the mad professor’s rejuvenation formula.
