Description

Arrive at 7pm (for 7:30pm start)

Do Science and God mix? Or are they fundamentally incompatible? Has Science made belief in God unnecessary and obsolete? Join Professor John Lennox as he explores this fascinating and much debated topic.

John Lennox is an internationally renowned speaker on the interface between science, philosophy and religion. He is Professor of Mathematics (emeritus) at Oxford University and Fellow of Mathematics and the Philosophy of Science at Green Templeton College, Oxford.

John Lennox

John has lectured extensively in North America, Eastern and Western Europe and Australasia on mathematics, the philosophy of science and the intellectual defence of Christianity. He has written a number of books on the interface between science, philosophy and theology. These include God’s Undertaker: Has Science Buried God? (2009), God and Stephen Hawking (2011), a response to Hawking’s book: The Grand Design (2011), and Gunning for God (2011), on the new atheism. In addition, he is the co-author of two research level texts in algebra in the Oxford Mathematical monographs series and numerous research papers.

He debated Richard Dawkins on “The God Delusion” in the University of Alabama (2007) and on “Has Science buried God?” in the Oxford Museum of Natural History (2008). He has also debated Christopher Hitchens on the New Atheism (Edinburgh Festival, 2008) and the question of “Is God Great?” (Samford University, 2010), as well as Peter Singer on the topic of “Is there a God?” (Melbourne, 2011).

There will be opportunities for audience participation through a Q&A session and there will be a book table at the event.
