The CoSTAR Realtime Lab is part of the CoSTAR Network
CoSTAR: convergent screen technologies and performance in real time. CoSTAR is a £75.6 million national R&D network of laboratories that are developing new technology to maintain the UK’s world-leading position in gaming, TV, film, performance, and digital entertainment sectors. Delivered by the UKRI Arts and Humanities Research Council, the programme is supporting new innovations and experiences that will enrich UK’s creative industries, economy, and culture. The network comprises the National Lab, the Realtime Lab, the Live Lab, the Screen Lab and the Foresight Lab. CoSTAR is funded through UK Research and Innovation’s Infrastructure Fund, which supports the facilities, equipment and resources that are essential for researchers, businesses, and innovators to do groundbreaking work.
With state-of-the-art studio facilities in Dundee and Edinburgh, the Realtime Lab is a collaborative space for industry leaders, creative visionaries, and researchers to explore virtual production. Looking at the integration of real-time and AI technologies, this lab is a hub for experimenting with dynamic interactive experiences.
