Event description
This year’s National Poetry Day theme is ‘Truth’.

About this Event

Come and join us to celebrate National Poetry Day with a poetry workshop in the historic surrounds of Morpeth Chantry, home of the Northern Poetry Library.

We will be exploring the real and imagined truths about both our family and national heritages and using them as a springboard for our writing. Jean will bring along some background materials to jog your memory and some easy exercises to get you started. Please bring pen and paper, and a fertile imagination.

Jean Laurie is a member of InHouse Writers. The group have published two books of poetry. ‘Coble Coast’ explores the Northumbrian coast and its fishing communities, ‘Castle Coast’ is inspired by the buildings that hold Northumberland’s history.

Jean is also a member of ‘Carte Blanche’ and her poetry is included in their latest anthology, ‘Women’s Writes’. Most recently, other poems were included in ‘Wish You Were Here’ and ‘Thrills n’ Chills,’ published by Elementary Writers.
