As a leading expert in the manufacture of semiconductor products, Plessey have been active in lighting, sensing, measurement and control applications for many years. They have traditionally supplied to large blue chip corporates, but the business world is changing. They are now interested to meet the academic and SME sector active in the development of new sensor applications and who may require a collaborative development partner.
Due to ground breaking developments nearing completion within Plessey, this event has now been rescheduled to Tuesday 24th January 2017 to enable the full range of new innovations and partnership opportunities to be highlighted. We are also offering the chance to win a Dell tablet device and an EPIC Sensor Development Kit for the most original, innovative new application for Plessey’s EPIC sensor (http://www.plesseysemiconductors.com/products/epic-sensor/), a noncontact electrometer with multiple applications including:
- Contact mode: measures bio-electric signals like ECG, EMG, EOG and EEG
- Non-contact mode: measures disruption in the electric field caused by human body movement enabling
- Proximity sensing
- Movement Sensing
The initial focus for the EPIC sensor has been in the automotive, sports fitness and healthcare sector, but Plessey are keen to engage with the sensor community and explore partnership opportunities for further developments.
5 – 5.30 Arrival and networking. Plessey demonstration stand
5.30 – 6.30 Plessey presentation: novel developments and opportunities
6.30 – 7.00 Five minute pitch presentations from competition entries and audience voting
7.00 Presentation to winner and networking (drinks and canapes)
Please join us for a unique event which will showcase the new innovations from Plessey, explore the opportunities for collaboration with a blue chip partner interested to work with academics and SMEs, and hear some epic new ideas.
Who should attend: anyone interested in learning about novel sensors and their potential applications
Who should apply to the competition: companies or academics interested to apply the EPIC sensor to a novel situation and looking for a collaborative partner
Please send a short 3 minute (maximum) video of your EPIC idea to firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday 16th January. A maximum of 5 videos will be shown at the event and voted on by the audience, with the winner being the one with the most votes. In the event of a tie, Plessey will have the final decision. The short list to be shown will be decided upon by Sensor City and Plessey in collaboration.
