By 2019 the largest construction project in Europe will be complete. Maroon coloured Elizabeth Line trains will be running east-west under the capital connecting Essex and Kent with central London and Berkshire. It will be possible to travel from Heathrow Airport to Canary Wharf in 39 minutes without changing trains. In terms of scale, Crossrail will add 10% to London’s railway capacity.
This explorer tour visits some of Crossrail’s landmark features in the East London. We visit the development works at Liverpool Street, the Canary Wharf Crossrail Station (pictured) with its roof garden and the Pudding Mill portal near Stratford. It is rather fortunate that our route also takes us through Brunel’s Thames Tunnel. So we stop briefly to view the tunnel and recount on its development.
Please note that fares are not included so please bring your oystercards or contactless bank cards. The tour lasts about three hours and finishes at Liverpool Street Station. We will take a refreshment break at Canary Wharf. Contact no on the day 07768-451425.
