--
Are you finding it hard to make the next step in your career? Are you struggling with self confidence and is it holding you back from progressing in all walks of your life? Imposter syndrome and not feeling good enough is something that hits every single one of us, in fact a lot from queries and messages that we recieve are based around this. That's why we wanted to focus our next event on self confidence, goal setting and managing insecurities.
We will proudly be joined by:
Natalie Dormer - Psychology teacher & Head of Harris Academy Sixth Form.
Natalie joins us from Harris Academy Greenwich where she leads the Sixth Form school and careers pathway. She has helped establish a successful programme of interventions and corporate partnerships that enable young adults to transition into further education or employment.
Natalie believes in nurturing interests and offering exposure to a diverse range of opportunities to make sure people land not only in a successful position but a satisfying one.
Natalie's key to success in leadership is having a wider vision for the team while allowing individuals to shine.
Tom Cenci - Ex Duck & Waffle, Founder, Hospitali-Tee
Driven by his pure love of food and his affection for the collaborative nature of the kitchen, Tom Cenci has earned a place as one of London's most prominent chefs. Having worked all around the world from Paris, Canada, Istanbul, to here in the UK, Tom's wide ranging and vast experience is something to marvel at. How did Tom make those decisions and set goals to climb up the ladder so successfully?
Most recently Tom Cenci was best known for his six year stint at the 24/7 operation restaurant Duck and Waffle. After listening to Tom on the Me, Myself in mind podcast it was interesting to hear of Tom's battle with self confidence and anxiety and how Tom pushes for the wellbeing of those in his team. Tom has recently set up an initiative called Hospitali-Tee; 'Hospitali-Tee is a program that aims to improve the health & wellbeing of hospitality professionals through the benefits of golf and help promote mental health, stress reduction and fitness.'
Merly Kammerly - Me, myself in mind
Merly Kammerling is a chef, therapist and founder of Me, Myself in Mind; providing stress reduction, self awareness and mental health awareness in hospitality. Merly set up her business after realising that there wasn't enough support or any resources in place that educated others in hospitality to what stress is or how it can be dealt with. Merly now provides experiential workshops to businesses in hospitality as well as one-on-one referrals and is a huge advocate of encouraging on the power self awareness and talking therapy.
Georgina Parnell - Youtube & Twitter
Georgina worked in advertising sales for 12 years at companies including Channel 4, YouTube and Twitter. In 2015 she became Twitter's Head of Entertainment Partnerships, responsible for helping public figures in music, film and television plan their strategy for connecting with fans. After Twitter she worked as a freelance social media Executive Producer for BBC Music and The BRIT Awards - working with influencers, focussed on Instagram strategy and execution. Throughout her media career, she delivered many presentation, pitches and speeches at conferences, developing her own unique style. In 2017 she took a career break to train as a chef at Leiths School of Food and Wine, following a life long passion for food. She is currently working with tech companies focussed on the food industry.
This is a great chance to network and meet others in the industry alongside learning how to set goals, manage insecurities that hold you back and knowing how to improve your self confidence. You will also of course get to enjoy food from the Hackney Open Kitchen on arrival, the chefs will be collaborating with Ravneet Gill on the menu - expect dessert too!
