Event description

Description

After a popular NWG Conference workshop and a recent full day event we are delighted to have Space at the NWG Training Rooms Derby to deliver this informative training course

SPACE campaigns against County Lines (CCE), provides a service for affected parents and training to all front-line professionals who come into contact with exploitation of young people through County Lines, as well as Health practitioners, OFSTED, schools, colleges, voluntary groups, charities, community and faith groups, parents and many others.

This is through lived insight and experience as well as a law-enforcement professional background also encompassing operational and technical knowledge of Modern Slavery (legislation which is relevant to those dealing with Exploitation), leading to a unique but balanced perspective. Due to this, SPACE has quickly become a go-to organisation on County Lines for professionals as well as parents, particularly on the current professional response to Child Exploitation, and where it needs to change to be child-centred and ensure safeguarding is at the heart of any intervention.

This training covers:

Impacts of particular professional responses many of which work in the perpetrators' favour

Dual victim/perpetrator status of exploited children

Anti-Police behaviours

Serious youth violence, knife crime and related trauma

Links between Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE), Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and Radicalisation

Challenges in Section 20 and 25 social care placement settings (often proposed as a solution to persistent missing)

Comprehensive County Lines signs/indicators through lived insight

Relevance of single and repeat missing episodes and handling, and how responses can be improved

Relevance of the National Referral Mechanism under Modern Slavery legislation

Grooming process, types of children targeted and tactics, including mindsets, vulnerabilities and pull factors

System gaps and challenges, and best practice approaches for Police, LAs, YOTs, CAMHS, schools etc

Behavioural indicators

‘Small Cogs in Big Wheel' – how do we make a difference?

The need to treat parents as partners (where protective factors) in children and young people's exploitation

Relevance of Contextual Safeguarding

Refreshments and lunch are provided
