An Invitation to Deeper Connection
Couples & Family Work - Through the Lens of The Penny Model
At the heart of couples and family work is something simple—and profound:
As humans we need to be heard, seen, and understood.
When we are not heard or understood, small emotional misalignments begin to accumulate.
In The Penny Model - Revised book, these moments are the “pennies” we accumilate—times we say yes when we mean no (or visa/versa) or experience a no, whilst seeking a yes to being heard and understood, stay silent instead of speaking or sharing our authentic emotional experience, or protect ourselves through fear rather than truth. Over time, these pennies build weight, leading to rupture, conflict, distance, and disconnection.
This session offers a compassionate space to slow down and address those moments and explore how these patterns and coping strategies can be changed.
Therapy, in this context, is the support to speak the unspoken and express the unexpressed—to give voice to what has been unsayable, unfelt, or suppressed. It is an invitation into greater intimacy:
IN-TO-ME-SEE.
Together, we will explore how fear—often rooted in historical trauma, limiting beliefs, or inherited emotional rules—quietly shapes our reactions and relationships. These fears may be hidden, denied, forgotten, or long suppressed, yet they continue to drive disconnection.
Using tools drawn from The Penny Model - Revised, this session focuses on resolving difference and repairing rupture through the ownership and sharing of core emotions, particularly sadness—the emotional home of grief, love, depression, and addiction.
When sadness is allowed and shared, connection becomes possible again. From there, other emotions can be explored and owned without blame or defensiveness.
We all want connection. What gets in the way is rarely a lack of love—but unspoken fear, internalised beliefs, and emotional pennies, which left unattended, can lead to the very separation we are trying to avoid.
In this session, you will gain insights to:
- Recognise emotional misalignment as it happens.
- How sharing ones intermacy ( In-To-Me-See), can support a more authenic relationship, with self and others.
- Repair rupture with honesty and care.
- Support connection at home, at work, and within the safe space.
This session is experiential, reflective, and grounded in real relational dynamics and suitable for all (in or seeking a healthy relationship with the self or others).
Please note: This session will not be recorded.
