Bevan Brittan's Court of Protection, mental health and capacity team are excited to invite you to our annual Court of Protection seminar.

  • HHJ Marston – from October 2015, HHJ Marston has been the Lead Judge for Court of Protection in the South West region, where he has spearheaded regionalisation and maintains an active Court of Protection case load.

  • Andy McNicoll – news editor at Community Care, the social work publication. He leads on Community Care's coverage of deprivation of liberty, mental capacity and mental health. He is a past winner of Mind's journalist of the year and has been nominated for the Orwell prize for social affairs reporting for his investigations into problems in the mental health system.

  • Gary Underhill – is a freelance advocacy consultant and trainer. He has significant experience as an advocate, Paid Relevant Person's Representative and litigation friend in the Court of Protection arena.

  • Nageena Khalique QC – is a barrister and Head of Public Law, Court of Protection and Coronial Law groups at No5 Chambers – and was leading Counsel in Staffordshire County Council v SRK & Anor [2016] EWCOP 27

  • Mike Horne QC – is a barrister at Serjeants' Inn Chambers, specialising in Court of Protection and healthcare law. He regularly advises on serious medical treatment decisions for adults and children.

  • Sophia Roper – is a barrister at Serjeants' Inn Chambers but was previously a specialist Court of Protection health and welfare lawyer at the Official Solicitor.
