About this event

Arts • Other

Coventry Biennial Cycle Club is designed to connect people with artists and cultural institutions in Coventry and Warwickshire in a social way that benefits health, wellbeing and promotes mutual support.

During this meeting the Cycle Club will ride from the carpark at Eaton House (just outside the city centre, next to Coventry train station) to Kenilworth Castle where we will visit Lindsey Mendick’s major new installation “Wicked Game”.

The project marks the 450th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth I’s 19-day visit to Kenilworth Castle. The installation explores a new perspective on Queen Elizabeth I’s relationship with her courtier and long-term suitor Robert Dudley, and her strategies for maintaining authority from the epicentre of a Tudor power struggle.

Timings:

11am: Meet at Eaton House

11:20am: Small rest at University of Warwick

12pm: Arrive at Kenilworth Castle

The Coventry Biennial Cycle Club is FREE and open to everyone, however, for your safety and the safety of the group, we ask that you observe the following rules and guidelines:

  • Ensure that your bike is road worthy, has lights and perhaps a bell.
  • Ensure that you wear a helmet at all times, as well as weather appropriate clothing.
  • Bring your own water, and other ride supplies (perhaps a phone, inner tube, pump and tool).

This event includes around 12 miles of cycling along roads and cycle paths as well as through public parks.

Each meeting of the Coventry Biennial Cycle Club will be led by members of the Coventry Biennial team who will ensure that no one is left behind by the group, and that informal support is available along the route and at our destinations.

This event is not suitable for anyone under the age of 16. Participants under the age of 18 must be joined by a parent or guardian throughout the event (all attendees must hold tickets).
