Description

Coventry CEP aims to ensure that every child and young person in Coventry has the opportunity to experience cultural learning activities that enable them to flourish, thrive and be optimistic about their futures.

The focus for the Task & Finish groups has been created by various consultations throughout Coventry over the last year or so and it's now time to start taking some action. The CCEP would like to invite you to get involved in one (or more) of the groups to help move things forward. There are 5 topics to choose from and you can move around the groups to join in as many conversations as interests you on the day:

Group 1) Culture takes pride of place: from the hyperlocal to city wide

i) Working at neighbourhood/hyperlocal level

ii) How large scale city centre happenings can be sourced from local engagement ensuring organisations and individuals are co-curating programming with artists

iii) How can young people be engaged with this workstream?

Group 2) Creative Curriculum and Skills Development (Pedagogy)

i) Is there an opportunity to create a Coventry Cultural Curriculum to reflect the diversity of the children it is there to serve

ii) How can Arts pedagogy be positioned as a ‘playground’ for new ways of thinking

Group 4) Culture Underpinning Health Emotional and Health Development

Group 5) Culture driving the economy Pipelines and Progression routes

iv) How can young people be engaged with this workstream?

Meeting Details:

After conducting a Doodle Poll, the following dates and times have been voted the most convenient for people and so the groups will meet at Sidney Stringer Academy on the 27th Nov, 22nd Jan, 19th Mar and 7th May from 08:30 - 10:00.

Each group will have an pre-assigned chair to help manage the flow of discussion and you will be able to move between discussions on the day if your interest is split across more than one topic.

Refreshments will be provided.

Please choose the date from the drop down list to register your attendance. We would ideally like you to be able to commit to all 4 meetings to ensure a quality of discussion and action over the course of the academic year but understand that this isn't always possible. Please register your interest in each date separately so that we know who to expect each time. You can also choose to remove yourself from the CCEP mailing list altogether.

If you have a friend or colleague that you would like to add to the CCEP mailing list, please let us know at creativelearning@warwick.ac.uk and we will make sure they start to receive updates.

We look forward to seeing you on Nov 27th - please come to reception and sign in at 08.20 for an 08:30 start.

What is the Coventry Cultural Education Partnership?

Coventry CEP aims to ensure that every child and young person in Coventry has the opportunity to experience cultural learning activities that enable them to flourish, thrive and be optimistic about their futures.

We will work to ensure:

  • Coventry is an inclusive and fun cultural and creative city where children and young people are excited about engaging with their diverse and dynamic communities
  • Talent (interests and passions) is recognized, developed, and supported from a young age to early careers in the cultural and creative industries and beyond
  • Information is shared in a clear and targeted manner
  • Impact is measured and understood and this information is used to inform future activities
  • Formal and Informal education providers and the cultural sector work in partnership to provide appropriate cultural opportunities for young people

So that more children and young people in Coventry are:

  • At the heart of cultural decision making; better able to navigate and influence their local cultural offer
  • Able to participate in a range of quality cultural education activities in a variety of settings
  • Aware of career and development opportunities
  • better able to navigate and influence their local cultural offer
  • Able to access cultural provision locally and across the city
  • Able to engage with cultural activity at school, with their families and friends, and in their communities
  • Able to see themselves in the cultural offer and those who deliver it
  • Able to engage with creative activities that enable them to explore and develop creativity

And So that we can see:

  • Cross sector Collaborations between artists, arts and cultural organisations, schools and communities to deliver targeted programmes based on needs assessments
  • Young people and teachers better able to identify appropriate cultural offers as a result of better communication of offers
  • Young people and educators are better able to commission and co-produce programmes of activity
  • Cultural and educational organisations working and planning together at a strategic level, influencing policy and practice
