About this event

Contrary to the popular saying, people often do judge a book by its cover. For self-publishing and indie authors, getting the right cover designed to a professional standard can be a challenge. Getting your cover design wrong can sink the chances of a book before it’s even printed.

If you are a self-publishing author looking at designing your own cover, or if you want to know how to go about working with a designer or illustrator, then this seminar is for you. Troubador Publishing’s Production Manager, Chelsea Taylor, looks at the basics of cover design, the common pitfalls of ‘doing it yourself’, explains why sometimes less is more with cover imagery, and why often you shouldn’t be too ‘literal’ with your cover.

The session also goes on to look at other elements like cover enhancements, and considers how to best work with an external designer to give your book the best chance of success.
