Event description

Description

Technology companies are changing the world, but sometimes struggle to get their messages out there.

Business journalist Jon Card, who writes regularly for The Guardian, Daily Telegraph and The Times, has interviewed hundreds of entrepreneurs during his 15 year long career. He will explain why some companies gain more publicity than others, why your PR campaign might not be working and what you can do to gain more publicity.

He'll highlight the storytelling techniques used by famous names such as Sir Richard Branson, James Dyson, Anita Roddick, Innocent Drinks and Brewdog.

This event, aimed at tech entrepreneurs, business owners and those working in marketing and commuications, will lift the lid on how the media selects stories for publication.

So join us for us for a great evening of drinks, pizza and first class media advice.

Key questions answered in this session

- Why some campaigns gain huge amounts of coverage while others fail

- How to create a compelling narrative for your business

- How to find the right journalist to contact

- How and when to approach a journalist

- What companies need to do to prepare for interaction with the press

- Resources companies need to launch a successful media campaign

What you'll get out of it
Attendees will leave this session with a far clearer understanding about how media works and how they can interact with journalists to gain publicity for their businesses.

There will be lots of opportunity to ask Jon media related questions specific to your company.

What previous Coverage Class attendees have said:
"Amazing event. Jon really knows his stuff! Easy to understand lesson on how to get press, straight from the inside of the media. I feel really ready to make Zola Amour famous now."
Emily Evans, owner of online fashion retailer Zola Amour

“A great insight into the world of journalism in general, but also a highly thought-provoking session in terms of identifying and building a compelling brand story for my business.”
David Green, founder of photography business Shoot Me Now

"I wish I could have mastered these lessons early in life, instead of now in my 40s. Who knows what successes I might have had. This stuff should be taught more widely, like in schools."
Daisy Cresswell, co-founder of digital agency Liberty 842.
