Over the past year, the Covid-19 pandemic has brought challenges, but university-based research into treatments, protection and now vaccines has provided some hope for the future.

However, the impact of the virus has been unequal, with some groups of people more severely affected than others. These inequalities have always been there, but Covid-19 has shone a light on them like never before.

Staff and students here at BCU have risen to the global challenge of fighting and understanding the impact of Covid-19 across a wide range of topics, and have recently won a number of major externally-funded projects.

This online research conference will be an opportunity to share and discuss Covid-19 linked research to date, look at the implications of the findings and consider what they could mean for the future as the world looks towards a new normal. What have we learned about ourselves, our students, our practice, our communities, our businesses and our wider society?

As well as a number of interesting and thought provoking presentations on a range of topics from across faculties and departments, the keynote speech will be delivered by BCU alumni Professor Mark Radford Chief Nurse from Health Education England.

The conference will also include a fascinating Policing in a Pandemic discussion panel which will be Chaired will be chaired by Senior Teaching Fellow in Criminology Ronald Winch, and participants including student Rod Jarman, WMP Special Constable Sophie Hopgood, Superintendent Hannah Wheeler QPM and Chief Superintendent Richard North.

As all the sessions are being run in Teams, you can easily step in and out of which ever talks you wish to attend, and there is no requirement to attend all day. They will all be recorded so if you have clashes, you will be able to pick them up after the event. However to get access you must register using the below link, and then you will received all the invitations and can go into any sessions you wish.

The day before the conference (Thursday 8th July) you will be sent multiple Outlook calendar invites containing individual links to each session. You may then accept/decline the sessions that you would like to attend accordingly.
