Launch of the recordings of the COVID Conversations series of webinars

About this Event

Last year, the Equality Coalition, Transitional Justice Institute, and Human Rights Consortium teamed up to organise webinars examining human rights issues brought into sharp focus by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Originally intended as a limited series, much like the pandemic itself, the webinars continued for far longer than we expected, running from summer 2020 to spring 2021. They covered a diverse range of topics such as childcare, domestic abuse, digital poverty, the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, and access to justice during the pandemic.

The webinars have now been made available online for watching at any time. Join us for the official launch of these videos, which will feature updates from some of the expert speakers who shared their insights during the series.

As NI slowly emerges from this crisis, it is vitally important that we do not simply attempt to return to the 'normal' that led to so many gaps in rights protections. Instead, we must address the inequalities highlighted by the pandemic and strive for a better, more equal future for us all.

Speakers include:

  • Coumilah Manjoo (from our 'Black Lives Matter: Protest and Pandemic' webinar)
  • Fiona McMahon and Liz Stitt (from our 'Caring During the Pandemic' webinar)
  • Louise Ferguson (from our 'Hungry for Change – the experiences of food banks in NI' webinar)
