Description

Thursday at Cowal Highland Gathering is all about dancing and sees the top competitors from across the world compete in the Scottish Championships and the World Championship Qualifiers.

** Please note the changes to the days that the championships are held.**

The provisional timetable for Thursday is;

AM Session - 8.30am start

Main Platform - Events 55 and 56 (Junior and Adult World Championship Qualifiers)

East Platforms - Ages under 9yrs, 9yrs, 10yrs and 11yrs

PM Session - 1.30pm start

Main Platform - Ages 14yrs and 15yrs.

East Platforms - Ages 12yrs and 13yrs.

What time is the Gathering on each day?

Thursday 29th; Gates open at 07.30hrs, competitions begin at 08.30hrs and the event will finish about 18.30hrs.

Friday 30th; Gates open at 07.30hrs, competitions start at 08.30hrs and the event will finish about 18.30hrs.

Saturday 31st; Gates open at 08.00hrs, competitions atart at 09.00hrs and the event will fiinish about 19.00hrs.

The family entertainment and ceilidh tent etc held on the upper field on the Saturday will begin about 12.00 noon and will finish about 17.00hrs.

Do I have to bring my ticket to the event?
Yes, you should print your ticket or have it visible on your mobile/tablet - all tickets booked in advance will be scanned on entry.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Children under 5yrs go free!

Children's ticket is from 5yrs to 16yrs.

Competitors will receive a "Competitors Pass" so do not need an admission ticket. They do need to purchase a seat in one of the stands if they wish a seat however.

Although children are allowed in the ceilidh tent and bar tent, children are not allowed in the immediate vicinity of the bar.

All onsite bars follow the "Challenge 25" guidelies.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Parking near the event is limited and we recommend using public transport where practical.

What can I bring into the event?

Licensing laws mean it is not permitted to bring your own alcohol to the event and the police and stewards will monitor this.

You are more than welcome to bring your own food to the event if you wish, although, there is a range of caterers onsite if you prefer someone else to do the catering!

Dogs are welcome in the stadium although we do ask that they are kept under the supervision of an adult and are on their lead at all times. You must also have the means of clearing up after them.

It is worth bearing in mind that the event can be very busy, very noisy and (sometimes) hot. If your dog is uncomfortable or not used to such surroundings, they may be happier at home.
