Event description

Description

White Rose Maths have been delivering 5 key Jigsaw twilights to Secondary schools around the country.

By popular demand we have combined two Secondary courses together to create an extended morning and afternoon version available for full day training.

CPA

Concrete manipulatives are fundamental to the powerful Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) approach and are a key resource in developing a deep understanding of maths for pupils of all ages. This hands-on course will focus on how concrete resources can be used to develop children’s conceptual understanding across all areas of the curriculum. Building on the concrete, we consider how we can make connections between concrete, pictorial and abstract ideas so pupils can truly master concepts, building on strong foundations.

Reasoning & Problem Solving

Reasoning and problem solving is high on the agenda in many Secondary schools, however in the last two years there has been a dip in the performance of students on AO2 questions. This session is designed to address the needs of the new GCSE giving teachers practical techniques to develop reasoning and problem solving in the KS3 and KS4 classroom. You will leave the session with ideas and strategies to implement the next day.

The day is suitable for:

Secondary Teachers
Maths Leaders
Heads of Department
