About this event

Join us to explore new community-led research into health inequalities in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Hear from researchers rooted in their communities and explore possibilities for collaboration.

You’ll meet researchers from NHS Workforce Training and Education Southeast’s Community Participatory Action Research Programme (CPAR) — a training and mentoring programme that supports voluntary sector organisations to investigate health inequalities in their communities and develop practical ideas for addressing them.

The topics researchers explored are:

  • Gender inequality for Afghan women and the impact on employment, education and support services and how this affects financial independence and mental wellbeing (Community First & Hampshire County Council)
  • The impact of ‘conflict’ on people’s emotional and physical health and access to health services in Portsmouth  (Portsmouth Mediation Service)
  • The increasing barriers to health and poorer health outcomes for older adults in Portsmouth (SPARK Community Space)

Who should attend

This workshop is for colleagues working in VCSE organisations, Integrated Care Systems, Primary Care Networks, NHS England, local authority and public health in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire. This workshop will be interesting for colleagues working at place or system level with a focus on reducing health inequalities. Please forward this invite to other relevant colleagues and local stakeholders.

Facilitated by the Institute for Voluntary Action Research (IVAR)
