Join us on the 9th July 2025 for our latest LAF CPD Club Session: A Biodiversity Net Gain Overview, with Land Studio (Connecting People with Nature).
This session will introduce the concept of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) from the unique perspective of an integrated landscape architecture and ecology design studio.
The session will provide an overview of what a BNG assessment is, when it is or isn’t required, it's purpose and legal context. Land Studio will provide an overview of how BNG works in practice, including the importance of integrating it into the overall site and landscape design, the inputs needed from different parties, and the BNG / landscape outputs needed for each stage of the planning and development process. Land Studio will discuss what you really need to be thinking about in your development to ensure BNG and landscape are integrated effectively and efficiently, including project planning and design do’/don’ts from a BNG and landscape perspective.
Learning Outcomes:
- Learn what BNG is, when it’s needed and how to achieve BNG compliance on projects
- Understand the basics of BNG assessment including data requirements
- Learn the difference between onsite and offsite BNG
- Understand the importance of BNG and the landscape design being fully integrated, to ensure smooth and efficient projects
Presentation by: Lyn Pearce - Director of Ecology at Land Studio and Simon Richards – Managing Director & Landscape Architect at Land Studio
