General Activity Description:

This practical half-day workshop will cover the main developmental issues of young children, particularly in relation to the teaching of dance.

Aims:

• To provide teachers with an introduction to the appropriate content and methodology for the teaching of young children.
• To highlight the important developmental milestones relevant to a child’s early dance education.
• To discuss examples of how to plan for appropriate activities will be provided
• To discuss ideas on how to extend and develop classes throughout the school year.

Learning Outcomes:

Participants will be able to demonstrate the ability to:

• Gain fundamental knowledge and understanding into the developmental issues relevant to the teaching of dance to young children
• Understand how to integrate theory into practice in relation to the learning outcomes of RAD Pre-school Dance Curriculum.
• Understand how to plan, consolidate and develop classes in relation to relevant themes of the RAD Pre-school Dance Curriculum

Ms Agnes Huang

Ms. Huang started her ballet training when she was seven. She obtained her Advanced Certificate from the Royal Academy of Dance and Advanced Certificate from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing in 1978 and 1983 respectively. Ms. Huang furthered her ballet studies in London and Cannes. She was highly commended in the Teacher’s Diploma Examination of the Royal Academy of Dance in 1985.

Since 2003, Ms. Huang has been appointed as the Grades Examiner for the Royal Academy of Dance. She traveled to various countries around the world as an Examiner. She has examined in Thailand, Mexico, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Germany, Singapore, Canada, Malaysia, China, Taiwan and Greece.

In 2007, Ms. Huang became a Tutor for the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies by the Royal Academy of Dance. In 2012, Ms. Huang is appointed as tutor for the new Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses by RAD.
