Richard Villar - Arthroscopy and FAI, where are we now?
The last decade has seen an exponential rise in the recognition and treatment of FAI.
Mr Richard Villar, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Villar Bajwa Practice and pioneer of hip arthroscopy, will talk both of the historical context and the current perspective of hip arthroscopy.
Are there any variants of FAI if so, how do we deal with them?
He will also touch upon the sequelae of FAI and tailoring the arthroscopic solutions to address them. Such patients require a fair amount of physical rehab and understanding the pathomechanics and surgical intervention is important to achieving a successful outcome.
Ali Bajwa - Peri-trochanteric pathology as a source of hip and groin pain
The hip joint is more than a simple ball and socket joint. The peri-articular space of the hip in general and peri-trochanteric space in particular is of increasing interest to clinicians dealing with hip and groin problems.
Ali Bajwa, Consultant Sports Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Villar Bajwa Practice will be talking about hip abductor tears and tendinopathy, the role of non-operative treatment and when should we resort to surgical intervention?
How should we handle the Piriformis Syndrome and the role of sciatic neurolysis? What about the Iliopsoas tendon that fails to respond to the physical therapy, is there an arthroscopic solution?
Dr Bajwa will in particular be discussing how to provide a seamless service for athletes and patients from operating theatre through to rehab.
Interactive discussions between the audience and speakers will be encouraged.
